Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close was pretty good and hit the right notes, at least for me. i wasn't at all disturbed by the plot changes, which i thought worked really well in this film adaptation.
the main leads -
Sandra Bullock (!!),
Tom Hanks, and the young and talented
Oskary
Thomas Horn - gave impactful and moving performances, along with the supporting cast, especially the renter (
Max von Sydow) and of course, actress-of-the-moment
Violas Davis.
Mr and Mrs Schell
Oskar Schell
the renter / grandfather
a most helpful Abby Black
i felt that this scene was the most gripping, when mother-and-son basically poured their hearts out to each other. this was an extended version of the book, which provided a neat closure to their issues.
the heart-to-heart talk (aka htht)
well, if you haven't watched and/or read the book, i strongly recommend you to! (:
