Come 1 Jan 2009, Raffles Institution (RI) and Raffles Junior College (RJC) will merge to become a single institution. The name of the merged institution will be "Raffles Institution", with a distinction to be made between Raffles Institution (Junior College) and Raffles Institution (Secondary). Raffles Girls' School (Secondary) will retain its distinct identity as a premier girls´ school, while continuing to work closely with the merged institution to enhance quality education for all students in the Raffles schools.
well, i just really don't fancy the '
Secondary' in RI (S). apart from that, i'm pretty alright with the names. with regard to the merger, i guess we'll just have to wait and see how things unfold. i really can't think of a situation with even greater co-operation than the current one. o.O

The song's 95-spot jump to No. 1 is the biggest in Billboard history and marks the third time the record's been broken in the past seven weeks. T.I.'s "Live Your Life" made a 79-spot jump to the top last week and his "Whatever You Like" made a 70-spot jump in late August. "Womanizer" also set a record by selling 286,000 digital copies. life is a choice
yesternight (thursday, 9 oct) was a happy night! haha. well, we celebrated
the bitch's
seventeenth (albeit overly belated) with a dinner at Breeks! Ngee Ann City. along with a coffee date at Starbucks after that. and as usual, outings with the other four are never short of just simply
awesome. OH. and we're definitely never going back to breeks! again. partly cos they don't really have good seats for a party of five. =/

J2s Farewell Assembly. i.e. the time to for House Directorates to give out farewell gifts to the J2s for their undying passion and support to the respective houses. and of course, it was no exception for members of the green house
Buckle Buckley. (: and YEAAAH, our gift totally rocks btw - the J2s clearly love it (or so i think!). xD

anyway, the week began on a totally awesome (okay, i obviously need to widen my vocabulary) note, cos on
monday (6 oct), i caught

angie at Eng Wah Toa Payoh right after the end of our pe&rp survey. haha, we actually rushed out of the com lab as soon as we were done with the survey at around 10.30am cos the movie was at 11am. confusion set in as we went around around for the cinema once we reached Toa Payoh interchange, and around five minutes past the magical time of 11am, we were even convinced that perhaps the cinema wasn't at that corner of Toa Payoh in the first place, and hence a little disappointed that we'll be missing the movie. :( but NAH, we eventually made it into the theatre hall about ten minutes past 11 with directions for a few teenagers. so yay to us and them! (: OH, and we totally had the theatre all to ourself, except for a lady, an old man and a couple. afterall, who watches a movie at 11am right! xD

Children's Day! hurray. xD so,

it's funny how i always used to looked forward to this day with great anticipation when i was young. okay, that was partly cos i'd be excited to see what the teachers would give us children (and i'm sure everyone else was as well!). xD but i guess as you grow older, it just loses its relevance, and hence, you don't really pay attention to it anymore. then coupled with the whole anticipation for Hari Raya as well this year, poof! i totally forgot about Children's Day.
anyhow, afterall, everyone has an inner kid somewhere (or so they say). so don't give me the i'm-all-grown-up reasoning alright. perhaps it's time you search for your "inner kid". haha
speaking of younger days (okay, i make it sound as though i'm
so old -.-"), during the Aidilfitri
khutbah (sermon) just now, the
imam used a Malay word that i haven't heard in the longest time! haha. he was narrating how Prophet
Ibrahim (Abraham) had sacrificed being with his wife and child to carry out God's work, and had left them at a "barren valley". in Malay, that's translated to "
lembah yang kering kontang". yes,
KERING KONTANG! xD like, have you heard of that
kata ganda since primary school! well, i sure haven't. wow. okay, cheap thrill, i know.
