reached guangyangpri at around 6.30am, to a crowd of batchmates waiting outside the gate. hahahah. y'know why? coz they were all locked out! surprisesurprise, mrtoiletbowl aka mrthailand aka sarun, was late, and he was holding on to the keys. just great huh. and to think i was initially told to come at 6.00am (but i pleaded with the OICs). thaaanks. anyway, mschew also had to wait for the thai royalty to arrive. how wrong. xP soon enough though, sarun finally arrived, and we set up the necessary registration stuff and all. oh. and i still rmbr the first cub scout (that's what prisch scouts are called) to register was desmondeng. who's quite adorable arh. (:

well, anyway, it took quite some time till all the cub scouts were present though. registration was supposed to end by 8am, when we would already commence with the camp programme, but the major contingent from peichunpublic only arrived at 8.15am, if i'm not wrong. yeah. so programme got pushed back, but thankfully, we had much buffer time (too much actually) to gain back the lost time.

as they were registered, the cub scouts were also broken up into patrols - germany, egypt, france, southafrica, japan and (mao's) china. hahahah. and i was the patrol advisor (i.e. babysitter) to the german cub scouts - aaron, singwei, alex, chenhong, chengche, syakir, kongwai, and quanjie (who came on the second day)! (:

anyhows, proceeded with flag break and tentpitching, when i felt kinda noob coz we were given dome tents; not the usual a-frame tents that i was familiar with. -.-" thankfully though, aaron knew the works, so yeah. then icebreakers, with games namely (hahahah!), name me (similar to blanket game), name chain and designing patrol flag. and i'm proud to say that many thought the german patrol flag was kinda meaningfully designed. (: thanks to the imba guy (we gave him the nick, coz he's quite the pro at physical stuff), aaron, who thought of the idea. plus, we also had our faces painted, and unfortunately, my smart idea of letting everyone paint each other's face, resulted in my face having a totally black forehead. thaaanks. OH. and i forgot to add one major piece of info - their discipline was terrible! they were highly rowdy and lacked basic discipline for things like a horseshoe. -.-" though i certainly hope that has improved from the camp. (:

anyway, after that was simply capture the flag, then lunch, then station lessons, where they were taught scouts stuff, basically. and i was in-charge of teaching them campfire songs. yay. hahahah. half the time everyone was kinda sian to really do the whole song properly. still, thankfully, they did learn well, especially edelweiss and adijiyell. well, it's no wonder, considering the very pro teacher. (: thankyouverymuch.

ended much earlier than expected though, and off they went to play soccer and basketball. after which was dinner! then went to prep for light sticks armageddon. which was veryvery fun. (: oh. and during that activity, i had to babysit aaron and syakir who were nursing a headache and a bruise respectively. awww... yeah, i know. i'm sucha caring advisor. hahahah.

helped with supper prep, then wash up, debrief and lights out! well, lights out for the cub scouts actually. whereas for the sec3s, some were just lazying around (like me) and some others were watching kill bill on weijie's laptop, apart from the debrief/discussion about the camp so far that we had first. especially on their discipline. xP


rise and shine was set at 7am. and true enough, they were ready by then. proceeded on to morning physicaltraining (affectionately known as PT) and breakfast after that. then it was on to a whole morning of stalk and catch! hahahah. the sec3s were supposed to hide ourselves and the cub scouts were to catch us. then when they complete a certain task, they get our yellow strips of paper with our initials on it. basically, they have to get as many of such strips as possible. but the catch is, it's not that easy to get the sec3s! catch us if you can! xP hahahah. oh. and my own patrol (the germans) tried twice to catch me but failed. i think i was quite evil to them, finding all kinds of ways to avoid them. till i even resorted to throwing the paper on the field for one patrol, since the germans were camping there, waiting for me to be done with that patrol. so bad of me, i know. xP

after all that running, we had lunch, when the cub scouts were owned by misswiyah! omg, the way she disciplined them and put them in their places was just so effective. and impossible for us to achieve. hahahah. well, as harsh as she might have been, she's still a nice and friendly lady larh. then, it was basically gangshow prep all the way till evening, when the gangshow took place. and i must say that it was the lousiest moment of the camp - getting stubborn and restless prisch children to come together and produce a skit. it was sucha nightmare!

oh. and it happened to all the sec3s, might i add. practically the whole batch was somehow at our lowest during the period before the campfire. and especially benhong, who angst so much. well, he even snapped at me larh, whatthehell. o.O

gangshow, reception, debrief and lights out! oh. and during the debrief, mrsalleh gave his thanks to us in advance coz he wasn't gonna be in the camp the next day. (: to which misswiyah applauded very loudly and even did the worshipping thing. y'know, with the hands out and bowing to us action. -.-" hahahah. funky woman. and yeah. the night when i conked out once my body touched the ground. and i woke up at 4am, to move my body to the stage of the hall, the sleeping area of the cub scouts, supposedly to do sentry. but ahwell! xP


rise and shine was at 6.30am. morning pt was cancelled since we had much to do before we could proceed on with orienteering. like striking of the tents mainly and also washing and laying them out to dry. which we knew would take more than an hour in all. xP hahahah.

after which we had breakfast, and soon enough, we proceeded on with orienteering. i must say i'm overall quite satisfied with their orienteering skills. (: they could navigate rather alright, though the starting was kinda screwed up coz they didn't set the map correctly and walked a whole round before finally realizing the correct way. but then again, they weren't provided with a compass, so it wasn't really their fault. oh. and during this activity, jarell, who was following me with my patrol, said sth that kinda struck me. he said that he didn't bother to rmbr names of the cub scouts coz he felt that it would bring about a feeling of attachment to them. which i felt was kinda true. uhhuh.

anyhows, had lunch then some station games. oh. and did i fail to mention how perverted these seemingly innocent prisch children are? well, during charades, i told one of them to act out lollipop. so he was basically licking and sucking the imaginary lollipop, and the responses it got? ice cream, drink... and penis. o.O the bomb!

hahahah. after which we walked back from bishanpark to guangyangpri. debrief, then it was time to packup and camp closure. ): awwww... anyway though, i did manage to make each of the german cub scouts some sort of contact card of me, with a msg for them. since some of them were asking my msn address and hp no. hahahah.

and yeah. before they left, i took some photos of the peichunpublic cub scouts waving on the bus (since there wasn't time to take a camp/patrol photo), and surprisingly, singwei actually took two of me as well. am touched. (: and like sarun said, it seemed as though the cub scouts themselves were kinda sad to leave the camp.

then the sec3s rushrushrush to packup our logistics, since the school was about to be locked up. and they were waiting for us! -.-" erkay.
had sorta batch dinner, then homeward bound!

oh. and i think one take-away from the camp is that i guess we have bonded and become much closer as a batch? at least i think so. and well, we've enriched the lives of around 60 young kiddos in a 3-day camp. hopefully. with the lessons and all.

that being said, yeah, i'm game for WWXII. (:

well, i guess i'm really not fated to update between camps. work loves me a lot. and me loves work loads as well. yeah. (sorry, going bonkers soon. this is what happens when you attempt a camp marathon. xP)

anyhows, just got back from library camp last night, and will be off to world war x from this morning till monday late afternoon. quite looking forward to it, i must say, since the sec 3 01scouts are the organisers for this cub scouts camp. hope it'll be real fun!

again, adapted from KangJie's blog...

day 1

reached school at around 8am then embarked on the nice artpiece that kangjie and me tried to complete! hahahah. it really looks good, alright! better than the torn paper one. oh. and the stock-takers were in the library as well. at first, i thought there were only two of them, but apparently as time passed by, more started streaming in. interesting! they outnumbered our library staff. xP

anyway, had briefing before setting off for HWA at whampoa drive for a full day of CIP work. (: i was basically in charge of helping out at our adopted creative studio (rmbr the HML creative studio?). yeah. which was previously called their art room/ training room no. 1. kangjie was in charge of the ntoiceboards, daniel - the christmas trees, yiyang - cosy corner and calvin - his posters. went for lunch break, at around 1pm, at the nearby hawker centre, then came back to continue our job at around 1.40pm. we eventually completed everything around 6pm, then bus-ed back to the library, reaching at around 6.20pm. thereabout. (i'm sounding like mrsyap. =P)

back at library, we gave them time to shower and hang out before dinner at 8 pm. tt was so late because we ordered food late and it came late. but at least the pizza man (pelican pizza xP) apologised sincerely. anyhows, i guess the guys liked the kfc and pizza meal. hopefully. after dinner, baorong and me decided to be the nice ppl to clean up the dinner tables. -.-" while the rest of the exco supervised the scavenger hunt organised by daniel and kangjie. hahahah. well, that got both of us kinda pissed for a moment. ohwells.

then it was housekeeping time where we started rolling up all the plastic and hazard tapes left over from stock-take. and we did it while listening to 987fm! (: oh. and kangjie and me were practically singing out loud most of the songs they aired. hahahah. took quite some time to complete, i must say. longer than expected.

anyhows, later, some decided to join daniel in watching cars (the movie) on the tv, while doing what they were supposed to do. smart idea. but i didn't join them though coz i didn't really fancy the movie. xP

when i was done with my load, i decided to be a nice hrdepthead and type out the minutes of the two meetings during prefects' retreat at one of the projects corners. uhhhuh. while the rest were busy finalizing our amazing race xpress to be held the following day.

slept at around 2+am, not waking up till the next morning (or later in the morning, rather). hahahah. when i was supposedly vigourously shaken by yiyang at around 3+am to help them do some final ar stuff. xP

day 2

woke up, washed up and did some final ar stuff. then it was briefing and off we went for breakfast. okay. off THEY went for breakfast. coz the main planning comm - me, yiyang, kangjie, calvin, ian and jonathan - had to do some real lastmin stuff. so we had leftover mcchickens and doublecheeseburger that mrsyap bought the previous night. hahahah.

then obviously, it was amazing race, after which i went off for friday prayers before joining them at republic polytechnic for the library tour. which was interesting, i must say. with much bitching going on behind by the trio, mainly about elitism and whatnot. tsk. xP anyhow, theit new campus is really nice imho, though seemingly bare (like vivocity).

went back to the library at 5pm where we did some games and had debriefing and all. then they were dismissed and day ended. (:

funkyfunky retreat! had a really exciting and enjoyable time at tiarahbeachresort, portdickson with fellow prefects. playing monopoly, taking part in the creative games, (attempting) water volleyball and water polo. was endless fun i must say. (:

anyway, basically, what happened was as follows (adapted from KangJie's blog):

day 1

reached school at around 6.30am (cabbed yet again. what a money waster i am! xP) then met the others in one of the seminar rooms. filled up white card, settled some final stuff, briefing then left for malaysia. bus partner was chris, and our neighbours - nabil and bryan. nothing much happened on the way because we were sleeping, listening to music, more sleeping and more listening to music. and some just had to show off their in-the-ear earphones. -coughchriscough-

as usual, stopped by place with a foodcourt and pond with big fishes, and a lucky garden. -.-" very lame shop name, i must say. bought mango puddings and twisties bbq (at the advice of lawjiahao, my boss) for dept members for dept meeting the next day.

more sleeping and more listening to music, then reached portdickson finally. saw poor dead bird on the floor, which some ppl claimed was killed by me. riiight. checked in, followed by a very flies-infested lunch, at the open restaurant where the table cloths had the labels still stuck to them. o.O

after lunch, had some ice-breakers and then, we were broken into our groups. group 3 - me, sarun, kevinmarklee, zongyi, moses, samueltay, and zhuoyang. funky ppl, alright!

hahahah. then we played water volleyball and water polo. or at least i attempted to. xP then played on the water slide and under the waterfall. then dinner and followed by some reflections by the G.R.O.W. model.

after which, we played scavenger hunt. which was simply put: -.-". finding things like lipstick, pink handkerchief and strawberry flavoured toothpaste, among other weird stuffs wasn't easy at all! and the point of scavenger hunt (or at least in my opinion) should be to have fun rushing to find the items and winning based on timings. would've been better, i think.

anyhows, then it was sleep time. not before a game of monopoly with bryan, law and chris where i tired as best to hold on to properties that the others lacked to build their houses, while nabil was still out at a meeting with Mr Kelvin Yap. and rmbr the "i'm about to sleep" excuse, bryan? pure evilness. xP finally, sleeptime!

day 2

woke up at like 6.40am? but well, we (me, nabil and bryan were roommates, did i not tell you?) had to take time to wash-up and take time to pray. thus resulting in our late-coming for physicaltraining by 5min, causing us to do a forfeit of an entertainment filler item for the day. -.-" diao.

anyway, for PT we had warm-up, played a game of chewinggum or also known as virus. and that was it! hahahah. Xpress PT much. xP breakfast after that, followed by the serious line-up of activities - review/reflect on 2006 -> lunch -> planning for 2007. oh. and all the very promiscuous behaviour in yuda's room. xP gosh! and being very violent and evil to some ppl, who actually deserve it. hahahah. much fun!

after which was free and easy! (: played monopoly with roommates (bryan and nabil) and law and chris. and this time, i was nearly bankrupt, thaaanks. xP hahahah. thanks to nice and friendly players, namely my roommates, that didn't happen. (: yay. and again, i tried my best to hold on to properties that the others needed to build their homes. and the result - at one time, three of them were negotiating with me to get the properties. and yeah, i felt so powerful, though for a moment. i almost reached bankruptcy, rmbr? aha. =P

dinner, then followed by skits. which were kinda controversial, but overall, inappropriately enjoyable. xP though i must commend my group (sarun, kevinmarklee, zongyi, moses, samueltay, and zhuoyang) on a job well-done. everyone (or at least the exco) was very impressed by the performance, which was free from cheap humour. well done! (:

then it was free-time when zouk supposedly happened in room 508. hahahah. our (me, bryan, nabil) room. xP the only vips though, were nigelchoo and gregoryantono. talked a lot of nonsense stuff, and much of very deep stuff as well. of true friends and friends. of fitting in and all.

but suddenly, i felt somewhat detached from the conversation and decided to do my own stuff wile listening to my mp3player. had what i guess is considered as an emo moment. just felt so much to be by myself. and then it came to a point when i reflected on practically everything. that had gone right or wrong. and where i was going with my life.

and it seriously didn't help that three consecutive songs playing were "set the fire to the third bar", "i'm not missing you" and "caught in a moment". highly emo songs that got me so emo i teared and the tears welling up were about to roll down my cheeks. don't ask why. hence when law and chris entered sometime during my emo moment, law actually saw my red eyes, asking me if i had cried. to which i just brushed off as a result of my yawns. aha. it's isn't really flattering to know that you were crying for not much of a reason. at least it's comforting to know that i'm not alone. (:

then had a rather good talk with law and chris about stuff, while nabil and the rest thought we were dao-ing them. talked about a lot of stuff under the sun. and those issues close to our hearts. and soon enough, when nabil, nigelchoo and gregoryantono were about to be conked out, bryan joined in the conversation, followed by kevinmarklee (law and chris' roommate) as well. talked till like 1+am? if i'm not wrong. or even later.

after they finally decided to get back to their room, i finally had my bath, then on the mattress laid on the floor (the rest were already kinda asleep on the two adjoining beds, so i didn't want to further squeeze them), did a lil more reflection before i conked out. -.-"

day 3

woke up at around 7am? no physicaltraining to the joy of many. had breakfast, then we did some feedback forms, reflected on our group and wrote nice stuff for each other. and on my card, there were two comments that read "nice shirts!" (: yay. just proves my great fashion sense. hahahah.

then we left for malacca for lunch. if i'm not wrong it was at mahkota plaza. same place we went to last retreat (claimed many, i wasn't really sure). ate at the halal kennyrojer's (only in malaysia it's halal, not in singapore, sadly) with law, chris, kevinmarklee, zongyi, jerome and gareth. realised that there was rejectshop and parkson'sgrande which were available in ipohparade as well. hahahah. had a fun time walking around, looking at the nonsense that law and chris bought. i didn't bother buying anything though.

then it was homeward bound, stopping by the same place with the foodcourt and pond with big fishes, and the lucky garden for some snacks. reached school around 7.30pm? yeah. oh. and i also sms-ed youpeiqi (chris' tuition pal) on the bus on the way to school, trying to ask her to reveal chris' gf. but to no avail sadly.

OH. and at the customs, received news that the library camp was shortened to a 2D1N. instead of a 3D2N. ah. major last-min change! kinda short a camp, i was thinking. but anyhows, dropped by the library with kangjie when we reached school. helped a little with stuff, and especially paid attention to the artpiece of torn pieces of coloured paper. unglam much. so we decided to busy ourselves that night cutting (and not tearing) the coloured paper to make a better artpiece.

hahahah. then we left at around 8.20pm for home. with yiyang cabbing, leaving me to wait for a 156 that finally came after half an hour of waiting? but was crowded, so i made up my mind to cab home. thankfully, no money was wasted on cabfare since seconds later, a rather empty 156 arrived. though i wasn't really that grateful. more pissed than anything.

so it was my cousin's big day lastlast sunday. (: didn't manage to take that many photos though, since my handphone batt died around noon. hahahah. klutzy me forgot to charge the phone again. xP well, i'm still waiting for my cousin (bride's brother) to send me the photos he took.

ouhkay. so basically, day started with me attempting to flag down a cab for around half an hour, before finally getting one. grrr. irritating much. and mind you, i even made three calls for booking, all of which ended with sth along the lines of "sorry, but no taxis are available right now". thaaaanks. just great. xP

OHYA. basically, all i can say was that the morning was badbadbad. (when life's a bitch, btich back! =P)

i cabbed to ICA building in lavendar, to extend my passport (in view that the next day was sunday, and my trip was on monday!), only to realise that my parent needed to be there. so much for my I/C. -.-" then naghere nagthere (not just from motherfather but also sisters, and a lil from my brother - the whole family!), and soon enough, mother appears, and finally, passport extension completed! phew! (: by then, it was already close to noon, and i was supposed to meet fellow eunosians at 11am at eunos mrt station (where else...).

but anyhow, had already told them about my late-coming, only to realise that they were still waiting for some ppl. hahahah. great news that i haven't missed any houses yet.

so made my way to Cikgu Siti's, and met them under her block. Cikgu was just fine as she always has been, as with her mini-lectures and beaming with pride at how well (supposedly) we've grown up. and she also talked a lil about the dip in number of malay teachers, and how she hoped some of us would take up the challenge. not for me though. (:

after that was aisyah's. then we went to my house. and during the whole of the 87 bus journey, it was all of rubberbands, keyrings, size, tideishigh, soundofflowingwater! hahahah. coz omar wanted to have a toilet break at the interchange, but sadly, 87 had already arrived. xP okayokay. so it was random nonsense talk all the way. and yeah, like aminah said, though we only meet once a year (could've been twice if you all bothered to come down on teachers' day!!!), it's interesting that we still seem rather close to each other. agreed. (:

after which was yasmin's, followed by nazrul's, then jannah's and finally zairil's. and on the way to zairil's house, we met aslam sulaiman! hahahah. interesting much. rmbr-ed the time he went to my house (then in ubi ave) after supplementary class, just to eat what nonsense we bought from 7eleven, though we actually weren't really that close. hahahah. and zairil's parents are really nice and warm people. (:

so basically that was it, in a nutshell.

i must say that i thoroughly enjoyed the company - aminah, omar, aisyah, azian, zairil, yussnika, jannah - and catching up with you guys. like aminah said, though we may only meet once a year, the bond is still there, and hoepfully, will forever be there. thanks for bothering to turn up yeah, and don't worry aminah, i'll help you to plan next year's. xP

update!

hahahah. it's been around two weeks since my last entry. well, this time, i was really busy alright! mostly school stuff, so yeah. and just came back from pupil leaders' camp last wednesday, after which i proceeded on to complete my chief comissioner's award hike prelim report due just now in the afternoon. so... phew!
but still, there's board retreat to settle (but mostly settled already), 13th to 15th btw, then library camp from 16th to 18th, then scouts camp from 19th to 20th (skipping day 1 on 18th). YAY. uhhuh. xP

anyway, on 1nov (last last wednesday), we had a re-staging of our lit parody. and we managed to snap group pics (finally!).

okay. on to plc (pupil leaders' camp)... i guess it was overall, an enjoyable camp in my opinion. actually, i kinda expected a tekan camp, but it turned out to be better. thankfully. xP anyhows, had great fun and crazy moments esp during the hike and kayaking return journey. singing songs (and trying to reach the falsettos) to keep our spirits high (as in reallyreally high), which amazingly fuelled our energy such that we kayaked back rather fast! xP yeah. and i must say that the sharing sessions/debriefs were very meaningful. (:
