roland garros
defending champions crumble

what a most unlucky night for Ana Ivanovic and Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros! -.-" i guess you could say that it just really wasn't their night, at all. and to add insult to injury, bowing out as defending champions only at the Fourth Round is downright humiliating. =/

undeniably, this is totally the upset of this year's French Open. and i thought Dementieva's loss yesternight (and Djokovic's too for that matter) was already bad enough. alas, these two defeats certainly top it off.

well, on the bright side, pink-wearing grunting muscleman is out (King of Clay no more, it seems!), paving the way for an easy victory (hopefully) for Federer. (: or perhaps, Soderling even, since he really outplayed Nadal on Nadal's niche surface! xD

yay, GO FEDERER (or RODDICK/VERDASCO) and JANKOVIC! =D

of four things

1. NS pre-enlistment medical check-up on Thursday was exciting and interesting. okay, well, why wouldn't it be right, since it provided me with a valid reason to miss lessons! xD oh, while the typical physical assessments (like blood/eye/teeth/etc tests) were well, typical, the iq/whatever mental aptitude test was most drainingly unbearable. there were at least 5 tests (or so it seemed that way; i can't recall for sure), which took more than an hour to complete in all. and seriously, it seemed never-ending! -.-" and it was especially bad when your stomach's growling too. =/

2. Hwach's annual production - Brian Clark's Whose Life Is It Anyway? - last night, was a-okay. it was too dialogue-heavy for my liking, and some stage directions really bothered me. especially of course, the existence of the three doors, which unfortunately, wasn't consistently recognised by the cast. beyond that, since it was too dialogue-heavy and hence, dialogue-driven, the acting didn't really shine through. and the attempted British accents didn't help too. hence, it just wasn't the most engaging to watch; i'd rather read the text. still, it was quite a commendable effort i guess. (:

3. R Project: Revival, which took place just this evening/night was quite good. though i felt that the designs weren't as 'wow' as last year's, the runway and layout was definitely much awesomer, since the set-up was really like one of a typical fashion show. still, i must say that i really like the designs by Li Tying and Yutian, which were really wonderful. (: and Zheng Ning and Felicia had really strong walks, so kudos to them. (: and of course, kudos to everyone involved - committee, designers, models and crew! (:

4. Term 2 has ended, i.e. Semester 1 is all in the past now. which also means that three-quarters of my JC life is gone, and there's only one-quarter left! =/ it's the last stretch to make it work, for real.

aaaah, it's happening all too fast! =O

one of a kind

so, i've been catching up on my tv! like, finally. yay! (:

firstly, Prison Break's series finale was quite genius, i must say. kinda reminiscent of the Alias series finale actually, especially with the beach scene. well, after all, it brought a very neat and poignant (with Scofield's death and that final scene at his grave, with the paper crane on his tombstone) closure to the whole prison-breaking and the Company saga. so woohoo.

secondly, Desperate Housewives' tribute episode for Edie was very beautiful, really. the flashbacks about Edie's good ways were certainly heartwarming, especially that about her wanting to give her son a chance at a normal life. and her final words in the narration - "oh, how i've lived!" - was truly a classic Edie moment. (:
DH's tribute episodes are always awesome anyway. (:

oh, and by the way, GP was awesomely sad. totally messed up my Paper 1, and well, Paper 2 was one of the hardest i've ever attempted. i desperately need a miracle. =/

xoxo

OMG, DID YOU KNOW! =O

... that the x in xoxo refers to the kiss and o refers to the hug. and all this while i had thought it was the other way round, since after all, x resembles the action of hugging and o is the shape your lips make when you kiss, am i not right? after all, people say hugs&kisses, so i was under the impression that xoxo followed that arrangement too.

BUT lo and behold, i've been wrong all along! =/ so thank you deejays for that enlightenment. (: (yes, i heard about it on the radio!)

a most random post, i know. xD

allen on ellen

finally! a more bearable version of that awesome Winner's single (haha, but both he and Lambert released it anyway -.-") which he made his own with his trademark acoustic guitar. (:

simply lovely. and actually ah, the song isn't all that bad. the more i listen, the more it doesn't seem to suck. haha, i guess it kinda grows on you after all.

anyway, in other news, the 2009 French Open - Roland Garros has begun! =D with top seeds Ivanovic, Azarenka, Petrova, Ferrer, Verdasco, Murray, Stepanek, Safin and Simon making it through to Second Round, winning their opening matches on Day 1. (:
and well, this means exciting days ahead, woohoo!

and finally, whoever watches Samantha Who? (and if you haven't go watch it now! you won't regret it, i promise!), please please please sign this petition to get it back in production! (:

it's such an awesometastic comedy that i don't understand why ABC decided to bring down the axe on it. =/ (okay, low ratings i know, but it's your fault for the scheduling changes and everything, ABC! -.-")

final night: the end

thanks for the memories,
BB HouseD! Teachers' Day Committee! BB28ths!
and essentially the entire 28th Students' Council. (:

it's been a long and winding journey, but we're all finally here tonight. as we close our very own chapter and handover to the 29ths, i thank every single one of you who have made a difference and contributed in even the smallest of ways to bring much colour to my Council experience.

for what it's worth, it's been a truly amazing experience. (:

from a list of names to full fledged 28ths
we've come a long way, we've made the day
we're ninety-four but as one we're so much more
and i hope we'll keep going onto infinity and beyond

28th forever.

this week

the three craziest weeks of the term have come and gone. and i emerge mostly unscathed, with my heart, mind and soul still in one piece. thankfully. (:

but, just as i thought i could relax and enjoy life as it is, there are four upcoming assessments this week, which serves as a reminder to one that the big As are approaching in less than six months or so. (i haven't actually been keeping track, but i think i should start, soon) and perhaps, it's time to get serious. =/

academics aside, there are many match supports happening as well, from crucial group stage matches, to semis and in some sports, the finals.

but most significantly, Final GM happens this Friday and Final Night (and hence the 29ths' Invest) happens next Monday.

gosh, so many things all concentrated within a short period of time. but i think i'm ready to end this 28th journey. i've gathered my thoughts and penned a reflection of my entire term just this afternoon, in around a thousand-word essay. so i guess i'm ready to close the chapter altogether.

okay, but right now, i need to complete my Maths and Chemistry tutorials, and revise for Chemistry SPA Skill A. xD haha

till later!

(by the way, had Mother's Day dinner at Tambuah Mas yesterday, without eldest sis though, whose three-week European escapade ends this Saturday! xD can't wait to see what she brings home, haha!)

i cannot let this pass

for the longest time, i have never hit rock bottom so hard. y'know, the feeling that you screwed up real bad and that you're such a useless loser. and it all felt just too much to handle in that mere hour or so.

i've never let someone's words, however harsh, get to me so bad. and i've always known myself to be in control and invulnerable to verbal attacks. but i guess i wasn't prepared for that at all.

for what it's worth, i was not defeated. and i can still take pride knowing that it didn't kill my spirit.

what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger; yes, it certainly did.

oh well.

anyway, PENDINDING was such an amazing experience.

thanks to the awesome production team (essentially fellow EXCO members), awesomely talented cast (casting was done so rightly!) and awesomely efficient crew, and everyone else who were part of it! =D

and of course, thank you audience for coming down to support the production.

happy weekend y'all! (:
