can you?

why can't many of us see the silver lining behind the clouds, or the rainbows after the storms?

perhaps the clouds are still there, afterall.
and have grown even thicker.

or perhaps, the storms have never really stopped.
lightening to a drizzle, then progressing back into a storm.
yes, they've never really stopped.
nope, not yet.

but, will they ever?

sigh...

meetings
yay... =/

hahahah. yet again, there's been a lack of updates. but well, life didn't seem that much free the past two days. as i had wanted them to be. o.O what can we mere mortals do but to adapt, right. anyway, general account of the two days that went by.

friday, 16march

had RE meeting in the morning with dean and yaoguang, from around 10.30am (was supposed to start at 10am, but well, punctuality's not really gonna be given a bother if you haven't had much rest) till 12.45pm or so. okay, for most of it, dean was rushing out the proposal all by himself. but with regular input by me, while i was also settling mcc and orgcomm matters at the same time. whereas our dearest leader, mrleowyaoguang, was reading the highly amusing jokes section of the readers' digest (which were really not funny, coz they were mostly flat and d-u-h). wow. how focussed and concentrated he is during meetings, you must be wondering. why, yes. certainly. he is afterall, the group leader. xP hahahah

after that, went for friday prayers as dean, yaoguang and cal-vinteo went for lunch, i think. then, left for home asap as i had to get the orgcomm matters settled before the over-dinner-exco-meeting. oh yes. the exco meeting that was informed to me on my way to school in the morning for the RE meeting. great huh. so fortunately, managed to get everything settled around half an hour to six, giving me enough time to pray, get ready and change up (i was still in my uniform!), before leaving a little after six to j8.

so we had dinner at cafecartel. (: yummy! riiight. obviously i didn't eat anything, coz duh, it isn't halal. which made jonlim feel very bad since he was the main guy who settled on the venue, but seriously, i wasn't that hungry. still, will insisted that they finish up their dinner asap, and then proceed on to the library as i grab something to eat. which was just what i did, as i was supervised by will. o.O hahahah

and yet again, we ended up discussing about the same topic regarding the school, in general. many minds, yet essentially, everyone shared the same sentiments. which is good, that we are of the same mindset, but, the reality of the matter is very worrying indeed. ah. we'll see how it goes.

in the bishan library

upon being chased away since the library was closing...

and jerome was about to go home
(alas, he lied about his mum's coming, instead, it was mikebin who joined us xP)

the discussion continued

my ever spastic dept head (:
(who had both ankles sprained =/, well done)

and we reached a conclusion and our action plan (:

what a way to spend your weeknight huh. lepak-ing in a public place/weirdest of places like bengs/mats. xP hahahah

saturday, 17march

had HR Department meeting at 9am. which ryantanyijie would greatly like to emphasize on my latecoming by um, 5 min 30 sec, right? yeah. but really, ditto the explanation above. meeting lasted till around 10.40am or so, then it was room clean-up all the way till 1pm. o.O

lunched at kfc with kangjie, bryan and gregory. then had our coffee dose. okay actually my coffee dose, since kangjie had chocolate, bryan, vanilla and gregory, cinnamon, if i'm not wrong. walked around j8, to sembawang music, where bryan got the Dreamgirls OST 2-Disc Deluxe Edition with the 36-page thing, and popular, where kangjie and i got our pens.

then soon enough, it was homeward bound.

yeah. pretty much what my life's been about. and thankgod i have the option to hold an online mcc exco meeting tmr, instead of a face-to-face one. really, i am not at all in favour of spending the last day of the holidays out, coz i really need to rush out stuff.

whokay. better get my work done for the night, then hit the bed and wake up in time for the meeting at 9am.

and jiayou, me - only 100-odd pages left for the house of mirth! xP

cinta
sebuah kisah tentang kasih
(a story about love)

"Cinta" is a film of five modern-day love stories with the metropolitan skyline of Kuala Lumpur as the backdrop. While each story is independent, the characters are connected to each other by circumstance, coincidence or location.

With love as its universal theme, the movie takes us through the lives of five couples who search, find and lost their love in the beautiful city. Through them, we experience five different facets of love: love between siblings, a husband and wife and their child, and even the meaning of love for the older generation.

Of the five stories about love, which one is yours?

- taken from its official website here

extraordinary (unggul)
Age does not diminish one’s capacity for love or need for companionship. The marching of time has not been kind to Elyas (Dato’ Rahim Razali), a retired schoolteacher. But despite illness and age, Rubiah (Fatimah Abu Bakar), a compassionate and kind woman sees Elyas’ dignity and spirit shining through. Can you recognise the face of it, even if you have no memory of it? Does love have to end in your advancing years?
touching, classic age-old love.

unexpected (romantis)
Love really does happen when you least expect it. An unexpected meeting leads to an unexpected depth of feeling for Azlan (Eizlan Yusuff), a wealthy, eligible bachelor who runs a publishing empire. He meets Azura (Fasha Sandha), a strong and independant if opinionated book store assistant and romantically pursues Azura. But when she falls for him, is this girl from a simple background finally good enough for him?
typical boy-meets-girl, conflict, boy-patches-up-with-girl.

eternal (abadi)
Dyan (Nanu Baharudin) is a rich, successful architect but unlucky in love. Trapped in a love triangle, Dyan is protective of her younger brother Dhani (Que Haidar), a struggling artist who seems to lack ambition. Frustrated that her brother is wasting his talents, Dyan urges him to change his life. What sacrifices are you willing to make for the one you love?
the ultimate sibling love, and sacrifice.

unconditionally (sepenuh jiwa)
Ignorance is bliss. Harris (Rashidi Ishak) who has built a thriving architect’s firm with Dyan, seems to have it all — a beautiful wife Airin (Rita Rudaini), a beautiful daughter, a beautiful life. Until he wakes up one day to find out that his perfect life is but an illusion. Does he fight for her to stay, or does true love mean letting go of the one you love the most?
sometimes, if you love somebody, you have to learn to let her go. beautiful.

pure (tulus)
Arianna (Sharifah Amani) is a young girl who is literally looking for love in the wrong places in the city with the help of a kind stranger, Taufiq (Pierre Andre), a young journalist with a struggling tabloid. By depending on the kindness of strangers, does Arianna find the love that she desperately seeks or does she finally sees the one that truly loves her?
simple, sweet, innocent love.

essentially, a wonderful love story. (:

emo hangover

so today was hml lcm (library club members') day 1.
started the day with icebreakers, as usual. whacko!, name chain and human scavenger hunt. which was essentially an activity where you find people with a specific trait that is listed on a piece of paper. the aim was obviously to get them to know one another beyond their names. hahahah. oh. and there was a trait listed: is a flirt. and i was actually asked by one of the librarians if i were one. doh! o.O

anyway, after that, while the rest of the librarians went off to HWA, i had sajak practice with the sajak-ers. Cikgu explained her sajak, after which, we had some light exercises to um, warm-up our inner dramatist. yeah. hahahah. xP

then it was back to the library, and upon their return, we had yet another round of whacko!, this time using a cushion. and who could ever forget baorong's forfeit - a pole dance! using a mop, mind you. =D whoa, so sporting of him. but yeah, traumatising at the same time. =/ hahahah.

followed by shelf-reading, then break, which was soft drinks and chips (which miss huang commented was terrible, when she passed by in the canteen), after which it was more shelf-reading, then debrief.

that was basically it. (:

[ed: photos to be up soon, i hope.]

anyway, after the general debrief, when we had the exco debrief, mrs yap said something that really got me thinking. she was merely quoting the thoughts of some external mentors that she met during a seminar recently - that many RI students are overstretched. which she believes, actually stems from our inclination to overcommit. and that, i felt, is very true for many. we tend to want so much status and responsibilities, that when it comes to the crunch time, we inadvertently choose not to perform up to expectations in or worse, totally neglect some of them.

and i must admit, in all honesty, that i do feel i am guilty of that at times. well, i guess it's high time for me to really plan out my responsibilities.

-
anyhow, on to yesterday:

yeah. i was at mediacorp caldecott broadcast centre. from 7to7. yes, it took up a whole 12 hours (a whole half day!). -.-" actually, i was only at the mediacorp wardrobe department for at most 3 hours. and the rest of the time was spent at nan chiau high school for the filming.

hahahah. filming of what, you may ask? well, long story short, i took up a job offer to be an extra (as a student) in lifeline season 2 episode 8, for 40bucks. well, i thought it'd be interesting to see the filming of tv programmes, and what actors go through, at least in the singapore context.

and i must say, it was quite okay larh. definitely interesting, just that it was quite a boring, tiring and draining experience - shared sentiments of the 20+ other student extras there as well (most of whom, i managed to make friends with, fortunately). imagine having to do re-takes, but having nothing much to do. which is why i think the main actors had a better time than us. at least they had their lines to utter and more actions to do. hahahah. but that being said, i understand why many actors are jokers as well. throughout the filming, the three main actors were always cracking up their own jokes and laughing at them, perhaps in their efforts to stay alive, and not drown in the monotony of the whole filming, which many of the fellow extras were experiencing easily after the first hour of filming. blah, really. =/ and when we were done with our filming at 3, while the main cast of the three officers and the naughty student had their own filming, many had a good nap before the bus came to fetch us back to mediacorp.

oh. and speaking of which, i had the priceless opportunity xP of being face-to-face with gurmit singh, joakim gomez, and the actor playing captain siva (sorry, i really have no idea about his name). as well as the young actor, bryan ___, from chungchenghigh (if i'm not wrong), who was playing a supporting role in the episode as my fellow classmate who burned his books on the rooftop of the school. ah, finally - the conflict in the show. yay.

anyhow, overall, it was an interesting and enlightening experience, i must say.
and to those actually wondering, nope, i didn't take any photos of/with them. am not that desperate fans of them, thankyouverymuch.

alright, out!

OH. and anyway, how could i forget about the title of my post. hahahah. basically, for the whole of yesterday, i had a somewhat emo hangover from the malay movie about love (not just about guy-gal love, bryan!) that i watched the night before. veryvery touching, alright. anyhow, more on that later. (:

P E A C E (:

yuxuan, can we please be more considerate and sensitive in our comments? i know you do have strong opinions, but do bear in mind how you may appear offensive when you voice them out.

kangjie, dan, louis (HELLO!), yiyang, yanzhi, jjj:
let's give and forget, alright?

hongsy, bryan, yiyang, shawn, dean:
thanks for the mediating/random tags.

kangjie: okay all these have to stop now because it isn't very nice coz it's sadikin's blog
louis: alright, noted that u're irritated with them singing in class doesn't grant you the right to generalize the whole choir. you're talking abt irritating others, but u're doing e same thing to others too
dean: oo. guess wad, i am havin camp tmr n stayin up cos my platoon pple are! i am bored n crazy
dean: hu's this kyx? can u just shut up...
kyx: joseph jun jie?
jjj: +You say alot of people hate choir people singing, but you forgot a lot of people also support singing or don't mind the singing
jjj: Not only choir people sing, Richard and hypergatak sings too.
jjj: Anyway those were not evil sirens... We were just singing Jee-aahhh-jee-aahh-jee when mr Jee comes
jjj: And he is also in choir. I forgot, kangjie also visits sadikin's blog.
jjj: kyx Louis visits sadikin's blog you know
kyx: how sad it is... all the people here enchanted by the singing of those evil sirens..
kyx: its my basis for saying that RV makes people inconsiderate, unthinking, and thoughtless
kyx: oh yes. about choir, will you get all your sec 1s from 1K to stop singing in class? the songs and the crappy singing (agreed on by most other people in the class) is really irritating
kyx: anyway, all i said was that choir is even worse than UG. i didnt say anything about how bad each one is. its relative
kyx: i see. people dont like me. never mind. such things happen.
shawn: bryan ure comment was random
yanzhi: you got probelm with ug you come find me. i'm the venture secretary of 01 and if you have ANY problem abt ugs you can come find me in 4R i would be glad to counsel you too.
yanzhi: fakao whats wrong being worse than ug. you think ug very bad ah. neh neh.
yiyang: hey guys settle all disputes elsewhere ok stop spamming the tagboard
louis: HI SADIKIN!!! =)
louis: kyx, i'm choir vicechair and cec council chair. so if u have ANY problem about choir, please come find me at 4J. i'll be glad to counsel you.
bryan: im staying. im staying. and you and you and you youre gonna ______ me.
dan: KYX **** YOUR MOTHER OK YOU STFU
hongsy: auspicium (i prefer auspicious) melioris aevi
hongsy: and kyx is Ke Yuxuan
hongsy: i hope kangjie knows who i am
hongsy: ah yes, my name is Shao Yang, Hong Shao Yang.
hongsy: does sadikin have a basic cbox or a premiun one?
hongsy: i presume that kangjie knows that there are 8 Raffles Voicers in kyx and my class
hongsy: i doubt sadikin knows who kyx is
hongsy: strange....how did kyx know kang jie was a Raffles Voicer?
kangjie_kyx: at the same time, spamming a tagboard isn't very considerate as well. so go look in a mirror, or jump off a building, whichever you prefer
kangjie_kyx: well i do have tuition and you have totally no right to ***** about the choir seeing that you are inconsiderate, unthinking and thoughtless yourself
kyx: anyway, back to the topic. kangjie need tutoring?
kyx: RV causes people to be inconsiderate, unthinking, thoughtless, and most of all, shunned by society
kyx: another victim of the core CCA system. poor sirens. the choir is even worse than UG!

ultimately, let's put all that behind us now. (or in the Pandora's Box, never to be opened again! xP)

thank you. peace, everyone. (:

i'm back!

hahahah. i guess i owe an update.
well, better late than never, right?

anyway, let's go one week back to when i last updated, week 10:

sunday, 4march
Cikgu Nani's wedding

arif and haris

firdaus and faizin

syafiq

said

mak andam and bride

the groom

bride and groom

the fellow teachers

me, faizin and syafiq on the train back

week 10

well, basically my memory of week 10 is that it was full of academics, for some reason. there was chemistry lab prac, chemistry oba and physics lab prac. as well as receiving back our maths ta (which i thankfully passed, with marks lost due to carelessness. blah.) and the malay cct, which was a disappointment. yet another.

and in between all these, there were the orgcomms matters to settle.

not the best of weeks, and definitely, not the best way to end a mini-rollercoaster term. oh hell, friday didn't even feel like the end to a term, which was supposed to mark the official start of the holidays. whatever happened to the past jubilation and celebration on the last day of the term. well, that's RI life for you. but then again, perhaps everyone was just relieved but too fatigued and tired to celebrate. yes, that's RI life.

10march, saturday
11march, sunday

12march, monday

01 JOB WEEK!

hahahah. yes, it was that time of the year in the scouting calendar again. this time round, it was a 3-day affair, since us sec 4 ventures, obviously didn't have to attend the scout unit training camp (sutc).

in all, personally, i feel that this year's was my best Job Week, as (apart from the obviously higher earnings) i guess i've done much more work than in the previous years collectively. hahahah. though i must say that i was slightly disappointed that i didn't manage to hit the target. well, i tried.

anyway, yeah. seriously. it was a good last Job Week. (:

day 2 (11march)

assyafaah mosque, where i met fawaz
(interesting architecture)

happyness

heyhey! okay. i'm very tired and sleepy right now. but i'll still be a good boy and finish up the necessary work to be completed first.

anyway, Post-PI Celebrations just now at Civil Service Clubhouse @ Bukit Batok wasn't too bad. (: had an enjoyable time with great company, so that was good. (though my bowling scores totally sucked! xP) oh. and thanks (again) for the burgers, Paul's parents! (:

after that, a few of us - me, shawn, jiahao, nabil, and kangjie - proceeded to catch a 9.30pm show for Pursuit of Happyness at engwah westmall. which was a veryvery heartwarming show.
after which we rushed to catch last trains and what not, and eventually, i reached home at quarter past one. yay. yet another late night.

alright, won't be updating right now, since i've got work to clear.
out!

but gone along with it was also our RIPB Prefects' Investiture 2007 - Red Shift - Speed, Steer, Shift. nonetheless, all the hard work and late nights did pay off, with highly positive feedback regarding the event. well done, us!
and congratulations on your official investiture into the board, (former) NEPs. (:

anyway, as usual, let the photos speak thousand-words to you. xP
