of meetings and life
hmmm. haven't been up to much lately.
on Sunday, my paternal relatives came to wish my mum well and all, for her
umrah. and of course to present her with gifts like prayer mats, and
telekongs.
yesterday, had meetings with two leadership training companies, Leadership Development Centre and Halogen Foundation, to know more about their training programmes, as well as for them to do a needs analysis of sorts, for our RIPB Training & Development. and i must say that they're pretty impressive. one's down-to-earth in their approach - they came in casual wear mind you, the other's very corporate and professional. indeed, they're very different, and yet, equally impressive. we'll just have to wait for the proposals, i guess. oh, and i was simply wow-ed by Halogen Foundation's Executive Director (i.e. Boss) Mr Martin Tan. his eloquence, knowledge, and charisma is just so um, inspiring. and to quote him (though this is rather cliche, i must admit):
Leadership is not about a position of power; it is about a position of influence
indeed. (: inspiring, eloquent people are just so captivating and wow-able.
after that, headed to Ikea Tampines with Law Jia Hao as we had to browse around for furniture for the Prefects' Room. had lunch first, at their food place, where Law, being the glutton, ordered three side dishes (though still religiously abstaining from chicken skin), while i had a simple cheap chocolate muffin. actually, it was more of the fact that i was meeting mum and sis later for lunch (and that there wasn't much halal food there), but yeah, whatever. waited for Bryan, and off i went to Geylang Serai.
HR Department Heads
yum, i guess
ditto the abovetoday, popped by Buckley Drama Feste rehearsal in the English Studio. they managed to rehearse two scenes, with of course, random moments of pure fun and enjoyment in between. xP after that, had a short meeting regarding Physics Performance Task, lunched with Isaac at KFC, and bused home with him on 156, while browsing through the recently-shrunk 8Days. didn't realise that till today. anyway, it looks rather interesting in its new size.
isaac and me
(ah, the open mouth)
much better (:i think i should drink more plain water to soothe my potentially sore throat. and it doesn't help that my cold hasn't gone away. blocked noses suck, really. x_X
oh, and mum's leaving tomorrow. have a safe journey! (like she'll read this anyway... -.-")

when you're bored at your aunt's:
and that sweet innocence...

awww. (:anyway, it was a lovely day. had
doa selamat (whatever it's called in english) for my mum and aunts who will be going off for
umrah on the 13th, just now at my aunt's house in CCK. which in essence, was also a family gathering of the maternal relatives.
um, nothing much to update on, really. well, i guess i shall just post a couple of cousins/nephews/nieces photos of sorts taken early this year, during the family dinner at Carousel, Royal Plaza on Scotts. had wanted to post them sometime earlier, but i guess it slipped my mind. (:

very fine
hello. yet another post past the day. ohwell. let's recap from the day before yesterday.
thursday!
the last session of the 2-Star Kayaking Personal Skill Award. finally. xP not to say that it was a very boring or meaningless course. rather, we were all very
sian of having to wake up early and head all the way to Kallang Basin. plus our arms were really
happy (i.e. in pain) after two days of paddling. though by right, we're not supposed to be using arm power. as we had learnt (yes, we were good and attentive students alright) during the course. nonetheless, all of us managed to execute the skills to comments like "very nice!" and "good!" by Instructor Hong Sheng, who took us for the last session/assessment. which was what he said almost every time he asked us to execute the stoke he just taught. -.-" anyway, of course, we walked away with our 2-Star certs!
my 2-star certRIPB Chalet! after that, headed to SAFRA Changi with assistance and directions from Shawn. watched a game of
mahjong, attempting to understand as much as i could (which turned out to be um, very little). then played Risk, failing at my attempt to conquer Asia, which i learnt not to do in one turn unless you are damn pro, and was close to being eliminated. hahahah. xP
decided not to stay for the night, as i knew i wouldn't be able to sleep, and i really needed that very badly.
let's be spastic! xP

(the blue troops are mine)
the mahjong kakis
shawn and me
(and moses just had to ruin the shot xP)had dental appointment in the afternoon, for follow-up of my root canal treatment. then settled for a 100% porcelain crown to be fitted in place of a totally dead lower tooth. which means that next friday, i'd be fitted with a 600bucks tooth. hahahah. xP expensive much.
later in the evening, went back to the RIPB Chalet, upon much persuasion by Shawn and Bryan. and when i arrived, i immediately settled into a Risk game, as an observer. hahahah. it was just so interesting to observe the various alliances and strategies that some players use to get their way. (i wonder who!) hahahah. around 9pm, we paused for the birthday celebration (i.e. cake-cutting) of sorts at the pool cafe for the May/June babies, including myself, of course. (: where Ryan and me had the privilege of being smeared with the cake in our faces. fun much. xP anyhow, after that, the game of Risk continued for a while more, before Shawn and me had to go off to catch the last shuttle service out of the uber ulu SAFRA Changi.
