the sixth borough

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close was pretty good and hit the right notes, at least for me. i wasn't at all disturbed by the plot changes, which i thought worked really well in this film adaptation.

the main leads - Sandra Bullock (!!), Tom Hanks, and the young and talented Oskary Thomas Horn - gave impactful and moving performances, along with the supporting cast, especially the renter (Max von Sydow) and of course, actress-of-the-moment Violas Davis.

Mr and Mrs Schell

Oskar Schell

the renter / grandfather

a most helpful Abby Black

i felt that this scene was the most gripping, when mother-and-son basically poured their hearts out to each other. this was an extended version of the book, which provided a neat closure to their issues.

the heart-to-heart talk (aka htht)

well, if you haven't watched and/or read the book, i strongly recommend you to! (:

blue eyes blue

This Means War was not too bad.. Reese Witherspoon was such a darling, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy were being such charmers, and Chelsea just did her thing!! xD though the ending thoroughly sucked. but i guess, like Calyn Marini Yap Eng Lian qualified, "so-so movies turn out nice when you go in expecting the worst" and well, it was free after all!

anyway, we were just too distracted/mesmerised by these blue eyes throughout the movie~

seriously, now? major jealoussss.

and the 18th SAG Awards winners are..

Viola Davis - Female Actor in a Leading Role

an inspiring speech by Viola Davis. and Jessica Chastain was such a darling, tearing up for her win. Viola also gave another great speech during the acceptance of The Help's Cast in a Motion Picture win.

well, i guess this means that the coveted Oscars Best Actress statuette is still anybody's for the taking..

Modern Family - Ensemble in a Comedy Series

Modern Family deservingly won, though i didn't really enjoy their pre-prepared speech. it felt a tad too forced, but they still rock anyway!
